SummaryWe are looking for an awesome Electrical Engineering / Software Intern to join our R&D team. We are creating and introducing a new series of electronics into our x-ray tube offerings in the marketplace. You will be joining a diverse R&D group that develops high end x-ray tube products for major and developing OEM partners and has a lot of fun doing it. If you can handle challenging product requirements and deadlines, work with a broad range of technical backgrounds, handle success and failure with an indomitable spirit, and work through the rigors of R&D work - we would love to talk to you!The Engineering Intern will have a strong desire to learn and engage in the daily engineering activities. The Intern will support the R&D's team effort to build develop new hardware and software to evaluate X-ray tube performance after they are returned from the field. This position will require some software programming skills and an understanding of HW interfaces. Experience with Python programming is desirable. In this position you will work close with an experience engineer / mentor. You will take on tasks in software development, testing, documentation, troubleshooting and, verification and validation. The goal of the project is to introduce the tool into production and engineering to enhance future X-ray tube development and customer satisfaction.Job Description
You will work closely with an electronics / software team member as mentor to develop software and hardware interface.
- Develop Python software to retrieve log files from X-ray equipment.
- Setup and build hardware interface to electronic Tube Auxiliary Units.
- Automate data mining of log files for evaluation against multiple criteria.
- Document the software architecture and design.
- Report weekly to the electronics team on progress / roadblocks
Skills - What you will bring:
- Strong desire to learn and engage in the daily engineering activities.
- Understanding of good engineering practice.
- Basic experience with software development.
- Demonstrated experience with debugging / troubleshooting.
- Experienced with interfacing to analog and digital controls.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to document work.
Additional Advantageous Skills:
- Python programming experience a big plus.
- Being able to read basic schematics.
- Understanding of basic communication protocols.
- Familiar with software tools.
- Highly motivated and self-driven.
- Be awesome.
Minimum Education:
- Enrolled in a BS, MS, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or applicable discipline where software/firmware is a major component of the program
- At least 2 years completed in the degree
