Organization: Health Policy Job Summary: Responsible for providing support for complex qualitative and quantitative research projects in health policy, public health, or related disciplines under occasional guidance. Utilizes intermediate level research skills to perform a variety of quantitative research activities including data management, analysis of quantitative data, report preparation, and management of project budgets and schedules for proposals and projects. Health Policy Data Analyst – Data Modeling (3951) – Department of Health Policy Job Summary: The Department of Health Policy is seeking qualified health policy data analyst candidates to provide support to faculty in the Center for Health Economic Modeling for complex quantitative and data modeling research projects in health policy, public health, or related disciplines under occasional faculty guidance. This position primarily develops and implements R-based cost-effectiveness analysis modeling. The position utilizes intermediate-to advanced-level research and programming skills to perform a variety of quantitative research activities including data management, analysis of quantitative data, data visualization, and manuscript preparation. The ideal candidate will work well independently and in collaboration with multiple faculty members and projects simultaneously, take initiative to gather suitable data to address policy questions, and complete assignments in a timely manner. In addition to regression analysis in R, familiarity with Git, C , and python would be ideal. The responsibilities of this position will include highly quantitative and written data analysis on issues of current policy interest. Examples of projects may include: Modeling the cost-effectiveness of new health technologies and policy changes Using survey data to analyze patient preferences using instruments such as the EQ-5D Analyzing trends in health care expenditures for Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries Examining policy options for improving the value of care delivered to patients in diverse settings NOTE: This position will offer remote-work-from-home opportunities, but routine presence in our Nashville, TN office will be required. Key Responsibilities: Data Management Responsible for managing large and/or complex datasets Develops datasets by performing data cleaning, data validation, and data reporting Maintains detailed documentation of data management and programming codes Ensures the integrity and security of data Health Policy Data Analysis Uses advanced statistical and data programming skills to manage and analyze data (e.g., R, SAS, Stata) Summarizes and interprets complex regression analyses Able to create, modify, and run multifaceted database queries and produce reports Expertise in data modeling and understands relationships between data items including R-based cost-effectiveness analysis models Creates complex charts, graphs, and tables to summarize analysis results Project Management and Presentation Uses intermediate-to-advanced quantitative research methods skills to participate in the design, coordination and conduct of research projects Prepares materials and drafts technical sections of presentations and written documents Able to prepare effective presentations in content and function Fosters collaboration between team members, both internal and external to the department Minimum Qualifications: This position requires Master’s degree and two years of related experience. A degree in economics, statistics, public policy, or another field with quantitative coursework is strongly preferred. Preferred qualities and skills: Expertise with R, Stata, SAS, and/or R Strong quantitative, statistical and data analysis skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Expertise in cost-effectiveness modeling and health technology assessment Experience with health-related datasets and/or population surveys Knowledge of health policy issues Self-starter with good time management, initiative, and professional work style A current resume and cover letter must be included/uploaded in your online application to be eligible for consideration.
