This position is assigned to the Granville Correctional Institution in Butner, NC; although, some travel to other counties in the college’s service area is possible.
Due to the nature of this position teleworking option is not available.

Essential Duties

• Prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate learning.
• Possess a thorough understanding of hospitality concepts and core competencies.
• Provide instruction and supervise training for a variety of hospitality operations essential.
• Educate students on relevant safety requirements, laws, and regulations pertaining to hospitality.
• Facilitate in-classroom learning and hands-on training.
• Train students on the proper operation of handling emergencies.
• Work with the Supervisor to make sure all supplies are ordered for the class.
• Control and monitor all inventory/equipment used as a part of teaching class.
• Complete VGCC paperwork with limited assistance and submit items in a timely manner for entering data into the system.
• Provide feedback to students regarding course progressions.
• Maintain suitable class records, registration forms, attendance forms, evaluation forms, etc.
• Submit paperwork to Coordinator at the end of class in a timely manner.
• Inform Prison Staff and Coordinator of any student issues (attendance, behavior, etc.) as soon as possible.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:

• Associate’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field.
• AHLEI Registered Academic Instructor/Proctor
• Three to five years’ experience in the field of Hospitality (Hotel and Lodging) preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management
• Experience working in a correctional setting preferred
• A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience

Physical Demands

• Light work that includes moving up to 30 pounds.
• Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
