Vance County School District - NC is Hiring a High School Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher Near Henderson, NC

Position Overview: Vance County High School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher to join our dynamic team. The EC Teacher will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure the success of all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Individualized Education Plans (IEP) Development:

    • Collaborate with the IEP team to develop and implement individualized education plans for students with diverse learning needs.
  2. Differentiated Instruction:

    • Design and deliver differentiated instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities, utilizing various teaching strategies and resources.
  3. Inclusive Classroom Environment:

    • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that promotes the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students.
  4. Collaboration with Colleagues:

    • Work collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and other specialists to ensure effective communication and coordination of services.
  5. Assessment and Progress Monitoring:

    • Conduct ongoing assessments and progress monitoring to evaluate student performance and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  6. Behavioral Support:

    • Implement behavioral intervention strategies to support students with challenging behaviors, maintaining a positive and structured learning environment.
  7. Parent and Guardian Communication:

    • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress, discuss concerns, and collaborate on strategies for success.
  8. Professional Development:

    • Engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and inclusion.
  9. Compliance with Special Education Regulations:

    • Ensure compliance with federal and state special education regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  10. Individual and Group Instruction:

    • Provide both individual and small group instruction to address specific learning goals and objectives.
  11. Data Analysis:

    • Utilize data-driven decision-making processes to assess student performance and inform instructional planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • North Carolina teaching license in Special Education.
  • Experience working with high school students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
