Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's Water Resources group is growing across MA and RI, and we're looking for a Water Resources Engineer/Designer to join its dynamic team. We are looking for an experienced water resources professional to work with our existing water resource group and support our work in the areas of stormwater management and design, hydrology and hydraulics analysis, culvert and bridge design, and resiliency efforts, among others. This person will help us assist our clients with developing strategic, cost-effective and forward thinking solutions to their water resource, ecological restoration, transportation and environmental projects.

Responsibilities

    Lead tasks under the supervision of the project manager on multi-disciplinary projects with hydrologic, hydraulic, stormwater design or water quality focus including interaction with staff and clients
  • Prepare and review stormwater management and natural system design drawings and specifications
  • Prepare technical reports, plans and specifications
  • Develop project proposals, scopes of work and fee estimates
  • Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues with them
  • Mentor junior staff in both technical and professional aspects
  • Responsible for project task management including task financial performance

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil/Environmental/Water Resources engineering or related discipline
  • 3 years of professional water resources engineering and analysis experience
  • Experience preparing design plans & specifications, and preparing technical reports
  • Experience with task management and people management/mentoring
  • Experience with hydrologic/ hydraulic modeling and stormwater policy and permitting preferred
  • EIT/PE licensure preferred
  • Proficiency with relevant software including AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HydroCAD, StormCAD, Microsoft Word and Excel
