Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is seeking a Transportation Planner to join our Transportation Systems team in Atlanta, GA.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope.

Responsibilities

    Assist in the development of transportation planning studies, report documents, and transportation master and action plans
  • Prepare written planning documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
  • Develop creative solutions to address challenging multi-modal safety and mobility issues and opportunities in urban, suburban, and rural environments
  • Support project-related documentation for a range of transportation planning studies, demographic analyses, and multi-modal/transit-oriented projects
  • Conduct planning assessments using analytical tools such as GIS to evaluate data, identify trends, and develop documentation to summarize results
  • Perform field data collection and other on-site project support activities
  • Support meeting facilitation and preparation of detailed meeting notes
  • Preparation of technical presentations and materials to support public, stakeholder, or client meetings (in-person and virtual)
  • Maintain a client-service approach to deliver projects that exceed client expectations

Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to think critically and analytically
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excel at working in a team environment

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of planning experience
  • Master's degree in Urban Planning or related area of study relevant to specialization (Urban Design, Urban Studies, Transportation Planning/Engineering, Public Administration)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams desired
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as ArcGIS and Excel highly preferred
  • Experience with Adobe Suite preferred
