Summary:
The Director of Modular Operations will lead our research and development efforts to transform modular home production by building homes in a factory setting, employing innovative strategies to establish Van Metre as a leader in the industry. This pivotal role balances managing daily operational tasks with championing long-term strategic initiatives.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations at the new Winchester, VA production facility, ensuring operational efficiency and high-quality output.
  • Lead the plant operations team with a commitment to safety, budget adherence, and fostering strong employee relations.
  • Perform daily inspections, maintain detailed logs of progress, attendance, and team performance.
  • Oversee the maintenance of vehicles and trailers crucial to modular operations.
  • Regularly assess inventory and facility needs to ensure seamless production activities.

Strategic Goals:

  • Spearhead research and development to incorporate cutting-edge modular construction techniques.
  • Set standards for production focused on cost efficiency, waste reduction, and enhanced quality.
  • Engage collaboratively with teams across design, architecture, purchasing, construction, and manufacturing to realize and implement the vision of the modular initiative.
  • Initiate and guide strategic modifications in manufacturing processes to boost efficiency and product standards.
  • Cultivate a high-performing operations team that is well-aligned with Van Metre’s strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate closely with the Senior VP of Winchester Area and Modular Team to ensure alignment and communication of overarching goals.

  • Skilled in recruiting, coaching, and mentoring team members to foster a culture of excellence and innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Credentials: A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field is preferred. However, equivalent experience may include:
    • Extensive leadership roles within the construction, manufacturing, or related industries, with a proven record of strategic and operational success.
    • Comprehensive experience in managing large-scale operations, showing adeptness in workforce management, budgeting, and process optimization.
    • Direct involvement in modular construction projects from inception to completion, focusing on innovative practices and quality assurance.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in a leadership role in modular production or a similar setting.
  • Skills: Expertise in Manufacturing, Estimating, Accounting, Operations, and Process Analysis.
  • Knowledge: Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications.
