We are currently seeking to hire a Counter Sales Specialist to join our Ace Hardware Team!

The position is at our Tropicana Store located in W Las Vegas. It is a “closing” shift, with the shift hours (depending on days worked) as follows: 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. on weekdays; 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Saturday; and 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Job Summary:

The Counter Sales Specialist performs retail sales, merchandising and other job duties that support a self-service shopping experience, helping customers save time and money when purchasing their plumbing and other hardware products. We provide many added services to increase brand recall and ensure customers have products when and where needed.

Working as a Counter Sales Specialist at Ace Hardware is rewarding and engaging. The Specialist ensures each customer receives excellent service in line with Ace Hardware and Van Marcke Trade Supply standards. Responsibilities include aiding customers in locating merchandise and answering any questions they may have about the product. The Specialist assists in the receiving, stocking, and pricing of all merchandise, and helps to maintain a clean and orderly store. Duties are performed via a store POS (point of sales) checkout system.

Counter Sales Specialist Responsibilities

The Counter Sales Specialist provides excellent customer service, hardware and plumbing solutions while demonstrating and maintaining a professional and friendly attitude.

• Establish positive relationships with customers by providing prompt, courteous service.
• Conduct sales transactions, including credit and cash goods, using POS systems.
• Build knowledge and proficiency in selecting a range of plumbing or other trades’ tools, parts, equipment, accessories and materials.
• Support the customer to select tools and materials that meet their application needs.
• Recommend related ‘add-on’ items, especially when a value-add to the customer.
• Advise customers on items and products that can be substituted or modified.
• Provide accurate pricing, and fill phone or online orders efficiently.
• Ensure timely follow-up with customers to provide accurate product information.
• Assist customers with loading merchandise and other needs

Stocking and Inventory Responsibilities

• Maintain, organize and stock shelves adequately on the selling floor.
• Maintain control of the inventory and ensure appropriate stock levels.
• Resolve discrepancies with manager/accounting regarding invoices, packing slips and receiver reports. Ensure reports accurately identify materials received.
• Organize equipment and product displays.
• Prepare items for shipping, communicate accurate delivery information, and complete paperwork as requested by managers.

Store Safety and Cleanliness

• Ensure a clean and sanitary store: take out trash; dust and mop floors; clean restroom, associate room, and stockroom.
• Ensure materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety rules.
• Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures through regular store staff meetings, store walk-throughs, and audits.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED; college coursework is desirable
• At least one year of demonstrated experience working in a customer service position.
• 6-12 months working in a retail environment in sales or merchandising
• Proficiency in use of point of sales (POS) systems, and handling cash/credit cards
• Product knowledge of hardware and/or plumbing products; a willingness to learn
• Work flexible hours including weekday/weekend shifts to meet needs of the business
• Ability to travel to other stores if needed; possess driver’s license and car insurance

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Some computer and cash register use throughout the day
• Stand and walk for long periods of time in an 8 hour day
• Talk, see, and hear to interact with leadership, associates and customers
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
• Lift/push/pull/carry various objects of 50 pounds frequently to load and unload customer orders.
