Van Der Hout LLP is a nationally renowned, full-service immigration and nationality law firm located in San Francisco’s Union Square. The firm was founded in 1980, and it represents a wide range of clients in immigration matters, including family-based immigration, employment-based immigration, asylum and other humanitarian relief, removal defense, and federal litigation. We are immigrants’ rights, civil rights, and public interest oriented, with twelve attorneys and 34 total staff.
We are seeking a licensed attorney with one to three years of experience, or a recent law graduate, to serve as a Litigation & Research Fellow for a term of two years. The Fellow will work directly with partners and associate attorneys on a multitude of immigration cases, including deportation defense, federal court litigation, family, asylum, naturalization, and the intersection of criminal and immigration law. Our work is done in a variety of forums, such as the Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, USCIS, ICE, CBP, and the federal courts, both at the district court and the appellate court levels. The Fellow will work closely with attorneys in the firm, handling primarily legal research and writing in support of litigation and other advocacy in a cutting edge, diverse and complex immigration law practice.
We are looking for someone who is interested in working and learning in a cutting-edge, diverse, and complex immigration law practice. We continue to value in-person relationships and collaboration. This is therefore a hybrid position. Attorneys are expected to come into the office on a regular basis.
