Job Description
GLO Summer Internship will begin on June 3, 2024 and end on August 2, 2024.
The Texas General Land Office primarily serves the schoolchildren, veterans, and the environment of Texas. The agency does so by preserving our history, maximizing state revenue through innovative administration, and through the prudent stewardship of state lands and natural resources. This position is with our Energy Resources-Mineral Leasing/Management program area.
General Description
The Internal Audit Summer Intern performs routine (journey-level) clerical work in areas such as bookkeeping, inventory control, statistics, employment, human resources, purchasing, mail processing, or accounting. Work involves compiling and tabulating data, checking documents for accuracy, transporting documents, and maintaining files. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Essential Job Elements:
Assists in conducting audits and/or lease compliance reviews, including issuing engagement letters, preparing interview and meeting notes, gathering and analyzing data and performing tests or analysis.
Assists in preparing mineral leasing review reports, organizing, and compiling working papers and documenting results and findings.
Assists in performing research, preparing written documentation, risk assessments, verifying information, collecting, and analyzing data and verifying compliance with lease agreements.
Assists in compiling, filing, recording and maintaining accurate and complete records.
Performs some of the essential duties of Energy Resources, Minerals Leasing/Management and assists with other related projects, as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Be a US Citizen or be eligible to work in the US.
Have at least 30 semester credit hours or more in an accredited college or university (transcripts required).
Writing Test for legibility will be administered at time of interview.
Monthly Salary dependent upon college level.
Sophomore $2,500
Junior $2,650
Senior $2,850
Grad Student $2,950
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in clerical work.
Legible Handwriting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of office procedures; of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and arithmetic; and of business or program terminology, methods, and procedures.
Skill in the use of a computer and office equipment.
Ability to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports; and to communicate effectively.
Ability to write legibly.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the employee to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (moving around the worksite) is routinely required to carry out some of the duties.
