ROLE DESCRIPTION

Assistant Athletic Trainer
This position offices in-person, on campus.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for the management, prevention, care, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries sustained by student-athletes. In addition, the Assistant Athletic Trainer assists the Head Athletic Trainer in maintaining the daily operations of the Valor’s Sports Medicine Program.

Provide Excellent Athletic Training and Student Mentoring

  • Champion the Valor culture and be intentional in the development of athletes’ faith and Christian character
  • Be a positive role model for all of the student-athletes at the school
  • Provide game coverage for Valor sporting events
  • Conduct initial assessment of an athlete’s injury or illness in order to provide emergency or continued care and to determine whether they should be referred to physicians for definitive diagnosis and treatment.
  • Create and oversee injury rehabilitation programs for student-athletes
  • Care for athletes’ readiness to play, and provide participation clearances when necessary and warranted
  • Apply protective or injury preventive devices such as tape, bandages, or braces
  • Assess and report progress of recovering athletes to coaches, parents, and physicians
  • Collaborate with physicians in order to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation programs for athletic injuries
  • Instruct and advise athletes on proper use of equipment
  • Assist with general operation of the Athletic Training Rooms
  • Perform team-support duties such as scheduling coverage, input of documentation, documenting injuries and care, maintaining equipment, and stocking supplies

Following injury, Valor’s student-athletes will be well cared for physically, spiritually and emotionally while their care program is well-coordinated with their external care team.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic training
  • Certified and in good standing with the NATA BOC
  • Certified in CPR for Healthcare provider

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The same basic physical demands described here are the same for all employees to successfully perform the essential functions of their jobs. Employees must periodically lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and could occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral/depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics are varied and include classroom, office, and outdoor events while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is also varied.

POSITION TYPE: C: Year-round schedule. 12-Month Calendar. This position offices in-person.

HOURS PER WEEK: Part-Time, Non-Exempt (15-20 hours per week)

SUPERVISOR: Head Athletic Trainer

PAY RANGE: $28- $32 per hour
