Vallourec North America is Hiring a Process Engineer – Combustion Near Youngstown, OH

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical support for all operational, maintenance, and thermal process topics associated with the industrial furnaces at the Rolling mill.
  • Be the voice of thermal process and the main point of contact for providing support to resolve multi-discipline problems.
  • Maintain and improve standard procedures; train operators &maintenance personnel. Reduce variations of key process indicators.
  • Lead the identification, development, and implementation of quality loops. Lead Continuous Improvement Team(s).
  • Benchmark current processes and evaluate new technologies, processes and materials.
  • Use Manufacturing Process Control (MPC), Six Sigma and/or other advanced problem-solving techniques such as Design of Experiments, process capability, SPC and FMEA to isolate and reduce sources of variation and resolve production and quality issues.
  • Develop and implement root cause analysis and corrective action of non-conformance to mitigate rework, reduce cost and improve quality.
  • Build technical capabilities by identifying and presenting Capital Expenditure Projects for multiple locations to support Vallourec Star strategy.
  • Coordinate project activities with Vallourec Process Communities, Vallourec R&D centers, external research organizations and universities.
  • Promote effective communication vertically and horizontally within the organization.
  • Robust and safe furnace operation with a continuous reduction of energy consumption and emissions.
  • Lead projects which are linked with the responsible processes and equipment.
  • Build targets, Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and report the results of the corresponding actions.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • educational requirement is BS or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering/Material Science.
  • 2 years of pipe/steel industry experience is preferred or relevant experience in a related industry.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and to promote excellent team building skills.
  • Project management skills for process improvement and/or product development.
  • Proven ability to apply manufacturing process control techniques and/or lean manufacturing experience required.
  • Strong decision-making skills based on analytical approach to problem solving, including application of statistical techniques.
  • Ability to solve complex problems, by defining the scope, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Establish corrective actions to mitigate rework reduce cost and improve quality.
  • Must be driven, self-managing and well organized.
  • Ability to work independently and execute objectives in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills for potential carrier growth opportunities.
  • Education/Experience with automation and process control is preferred.
  • Ideal: System knowledge of furnaces, burners, and refractories.
