Valley Youth House is Hiring a Life Skills Instructor (FT) Near York, PA
Location: York County
- Facilitate 125-150 hours annually of after-school programming based on the approved school-based curriculum on Google Drive to meet the program objectives (key objectives: program referrals vs graduations, the reason for referral, community referrals, pretest vs post-test results and involvement with Children & Youth at 6-month, 1 year and 3 years).
- Ensure the timely & accurate completion of all required paperwork per the LSI Paperwork Guidelines document.
- Provide a minimum of 8 hours a week of 1-on-1 sessions with the students and/or their families identifying barriers and connecting to resources to alleviate those barriers.
- Be the primary liaison between the assigned school district's point person and Valley Youth House ensuring weekly updates are sent, classroom issues are addressed and other day-to-day class and student needs are addressed.
- An Associate's degree in Social Work, Education, or other related field. If the degree is in an unrelated field then the candidate must have at least 1 year of experience in Education or the social services field.
- One or more years experience working with youth and young adults or facilitating groups/events.
- A valid driver's license, a motor vehicle report that meets agency requirements, and reliable transportation that can safely transport clients if needed.
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule that includes evenings.
- Ability to complete the pre-employment physical and drug test requirements.
- One to two years of experience facilitating a curriculum-based program.
- Knowledge of the York County school system, Student Life, and York County resources and service providers.
- An understanding of the barriers and challenges that students face including reasons for truancy, lack of self-esteem, parent-child conflict, etc.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing. Occasionally
