- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Current US resident
- Checks labeling, logs samples, and processes specimens.
- Maintains accurate records of specimen information and ensure proper storage.
- Keeps work surfaces clean and orderly.
- Verifies equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and performs basic trouble shooting.
- Identifies and reports malfunctions or issues to appropriate personnel.
- Contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers by following established standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Assists in maintaining and monitoring quality control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Participates in proficiency testing.
- Runs basic laboratory assays in chemistry, hematology, serology, immunohematology/blood bank, and molecular testing
- Serves as technical resource by answering questions from medical staff.
- Identifies and communicates abnormal patient results by alerting supervisory personnel, the physician, nurse practitioner, certified nurse midwife, or nurse.
- Maintains patient confidence by keeping laboratory information confidential.
- Adheres to professional standards, office policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
