Valley Wide Health Systems is Hiring a Maintenance Technician Near Alamosa, CO

Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Department: Facilities
Location: Alamosa
Position Type: Full-Time


Position Summary:
Provide support for the physical facilities within the organization related to maintenance. Foster a culture of patient and family centered care, service, quality and safety excellence, while improving patient experience, employee experience and community relations.


Job Qualifications:

Level I:

  • High School Diploma or GED required and minimum 1 years of qualifying experience in a related field
  • Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Basic understanding of carpentry, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems
  • Ability to safely operate most basic hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to prioritize work on a daily basis and complete tasks in order


Level II (in addition to Level I qualifications):

  • 5 – 9 years in a related field. Facilities maintenance experience is preferred, as is moderate experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Demonstrate apprentice level skills in at least one of the following areas and journeymen level skills in one of the following areas:
  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • HVAC and Mechanical Systems
  • Rough Carpentry
  • Gyp Board/Wall Systems
  • Finish Carpentry
  • Roofing
  • Interior/Exterior Painting
  • Concrete Form setting/Flatwork
  • Metal Fabrication
  • Demonstrate ability to finish projects alone or as a member of a team
  • Ability to complete duties and responsibilities of Level I

Level III (in addition to Level I and II qualifications):

  • 9 years in a related field. Facilities maintenance experience is preferred, as is extensive experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Demonstrate apprentice level skills in three of the following areas and journeymen level skills in at least one of the following areas:
  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • HVAC and Mechanical Systems
  • Rough Carpentry
  • Gyp Board/Wall Systems
  • Finish Carpentry
  • Roofing
  • Interior/Exterior Painting
  • Concrete Form setting/Flatwork
  • Metal Fabrication
  • Lead maintenance teams in the completion of projects and tasks
  • Ability to complete duties and responsibilities of Level I and Level II

Working Conditions and Physical Environment:

Job duties involve significant physical effort (e.g., Lifting furniture or equipment), or involve inherent exposure to potential injury, even when normal procedures are followed.


Blood/Fluid Exposure Risk:

Category I: Tasks routinely involve a potential for mucous membrane or skin contact exposure to blood, fluids or tissue. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), when appropriate, is required.


Pay Range:
Hourly – Min: $16.00 – Max: $26.24 (based on qualifications and experience)
