    REPORTS TO: Administrator of Family & Community Engagement, Director of Students Supports, Building Administrator
    JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Project Director and school administrators, and in coordination with the Site Coordinator and Academic Facilitator, the Site Instructor supervises an assigned group of students. Site Instructors carry out developmental activities as assigned. The Site Instructor develops goals for students and evaluates their progress. The Site Instructor will assist in the supervision and leadership of the program in general.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Assist, supervise and instruct children during all program activities
    • Counsel children when social, academic, or adjustment problems arise
    • Develop, plan and prepare instructional aids and materials for activities
    • Consult and maintain frequent contact with teachers, principals, counselors, program staff, families and other school-day staff as appropriate
    • Attend monthly program staff meetings and staff development sessions
    • Ensure that site appearance, cleanliness, and safety are appropriately maintained
    • Assist with distribution and clean-up of snacks to students
    • Complete all site paperwork, such as daily notes, student accident reports, and attendance records; maintaining documentation on all aspects of student participation, etc.
    • Attend and participate in staff meetings, site events, and parent meetings as requested
    • Prepare and implement lesson plans/programs and daily/weekly program schedules
    • Ensure that all indoor and outdoor equipment is in good working condition and is used/maintained properly
    • Physically arrange/clean up the site prior to/after the start/end of programming each day
    • Communicate appropriate information to parents/families
    • Create and maintain directions, schedules, and expectations to be used by a substitute instructor for planned and unplanned regular instructor absences
    • Assist with training new site personnel and substitute instructors
    • Assist with planning and implementing events
    • Meet and communicate appropriately with prospective families, including active participation in site tours.
    • Maintain knowledge of children's intellectual, physical, emotional, social, and character development and the importance of supporting their growth
    • Convey a sense of integrity, warmth, and genuine care for the development of each child
    • Maintain confidentiality of student information
    • Meet all state and district requirements for the position, including required training hours
    • Perform other related duties as assigned
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    EDUCATION
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in education, social work or psychology preferred
    EXPERIENCE
    • Previous instructional experience in educational setting preferred, or equivalent
    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Record of collaborative work with diverse students and communities
    • Communicate effectively (both orally and written) using tact, patience and courtesy
    • Ability to nurture children, and plan/implement age-appropriate activities
    • Learn, follow and alter (if appropriate) recurrent work routines and schedules
    • Interact with stakeholders professionally and build the trust necessary to handle daily communication with parents effectively
    • Willingness to take direction, work cooperatively with others, and take initiative when necessary
    • Experience supervising a group of children while attending to the immediate needs of one child
    • Ability to multitask, pay attention to detail, and manage time and activities
    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Work is performed in the school/district environment where unusual temperature, noise, and hazards may exist. Work requires the employee to perform the following critical physical demands of the job in the school or district office setting as applicable:
    • Ability to regularly talk, see, and hear.
    • Ability to lift, pull, push, walk, stand, sit, and use your hands for fine manipulation during the normal performance of tasks and responsibilities.
    • Ability to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
    • Ability to travel from building to building as needed.
    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Paid hourly student contact as dictated by approved grant proposal. Planning and/or professional development, in addition to designated hours of operation throughout the program session as delineated by grant. FLSA Non-Exempt
