Valley View Casino & Hotel is Hiring a Food Admin - Director of Food and Beverage Near Valley, CA

Description of the Position: Responsible for the successful overall management, coordination, administration, direction and food preparation of all Food and Beverage activities, facilities and activities on property, providing an exceptional quality food product and guest service in alignment with the Mission and Objectives of Valley View Casino & Hotel and in full accordance with all Operational Policies and Procedures, Gaming Regulations and Alcohol Beverage Control. Requires exceptional judgment, integrity and accountability. Carries out responsibilities while relying on extensive experience. Works independently as a part of an Operations Committee to achieve desired results. Primary Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks: All team members are obligated to support and uphold the Valley View Casino & Hotel’s Standards of Excellence as outlined in the Team Member Guide to Success.Maintain positive guest relations at all times, resolving guest complaints and ensuring guest satisfaction. Greet guests in a courteous and caring manner using personalized service.Ensure a maximum level of service and satisfaction throughout the property is achieved and maintained in the area of Food and Beverage.Provide support and direction to Food and Beverage to maximize department productivity and profitability.Responsible for assisting the Vice President of Food and Beverage in creating, developing and implementing an effective strategy of organization within the Food and Beverage Department, setting objectives for future growth and expansion.Under the direction of the Vice President of Food and Beverage, responsible for all operational needs for all outlets within the Food and Beverage Departments. Communicate regularly with the Vice President of Food and Beverage regarding the activities of the departments and team members.Manage all culinary presentations, activities and quality in all food outlets.Participate in new menu and recipe development for all food outlets.Maintain a consistent and high level of food quality and guest service.Clearly describe, assign and delegate responsibility and authority for the operation of the various food outlets and stewarding areas.Works with the Vice President of Food and Beverage and Human Resources to review property wide and departmental team member concerns, discussing needed changes and potential solutions.Maintain appropriate staffing levels in the Food and Beverage Department.Seek new ways to minimize expenses and improve revenue without affecting guest service. Analyze, maintain and revise existing practices and processes to drive operational efficiencies.Maintain budget and achieve goals established by the Vice President of Food and Beverage and the General Manager. Monitor progress of budget throughout the year and take corrective action as necessary.Collaborate with other departments on service delivery issues and guest expectations, recognizing that interdependencies exist and the impact of actions and decisions on other departments.Interact constructively with all other departments, maintaining favorable working relationships with all departments and team members to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious work environment.Interact daily with direct reports as needed to ensure communication and feedback while providing direction, structure, support, mentoring and guidance. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction and instructions to staff. Observe staff performance and create a work environment that fosters the professional development and growth of team members. Responsible for team member performance evaluations under span of control.Conduct weekly department manager meetings for information updates, idea sharing, and analysis of guest traffic patterns.Serve as a member of the Executive Operations Committee and attend weekly meetings, giving informative status reports on areas within span of control.Staff departments appropriately and in conjunction with Human Resources decide the final outcome of all recommendations and suggestions to hire, transfer, suspend, evaluate, promote, discharge, reward or discipline team members.Knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures sufficient to ensure correct application and adherence in the supervision of direct reports.Ensure implementation and consistency of departmental policies and procedures.Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of areas under span of control.Responsible for preparing the organization for ongoing change.Formulates, administers and enforces departmental policies and performance standards.Ensures departmental compliance with applicable laws governing Food and Beverage.Participates in special projects as requested by the Vice President of Food and Beverage.Ensures the quality of management operations in all areas of the organization.Held accountable, to the highest degree, for the accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports.Responsible for ensuring that current safety rules and regulations are followed by all Team Members under span of control.Responsible for conducting all responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner.Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises any Team Member(s) under span of control.Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching and/or correcting Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems toward a non-biased outcome. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management or related field from a four-year college or university. Seven years of experience in Food and Beverage Management with progressive supervisory/managerial responsibilities. An equivalent combination of experience and/or training may be substituted for the education requirement.Must possess RBS Certification or have the ability to obtain certification within 60 days of hire and maintain the required certification.Three years of experience as an Executive Chef.Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products.Leadership skills including having the confidence and ability to articulate clear and precise direction.Ability to build and further create a positive work environment with open communication and consistency.Ability to maintain and advance camaraderie throughout the property.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide audience.Strong organizational skills.Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, guidelines, operating and maintenance instructions, and policies and procedure manuals written in the English language.Ability to speak and understand the English language.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables.Must display the ability to maintain positive guest relations at all times.Staff departments appropriately and in conjunction with Human Resources decide the final outcome of all recommendations and suggestions to hire, transfer, suspend, evaluate, promote, discharge, reward or discipline team members.Knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures sufficient to ensure correct application and adherence in the supervision of direct reports.Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.Must successfully pass a drug screening test.Must be able to successfully pass applicable auditions or skill testing.Will be required to carry a company provided cell-phone at all times to receive and respond to work related calls. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in Food and Beverage within the gaming industry including advanced culinary knowledge.Demonstrated experience in the art of coaching for success. Physical Requirements of the Position: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Clear vision (close, distant, color, peripheral, and depth perception) is needed for navigating office and casino environments, reading and reviewing reports and policies, operating data processing equipment and other essential job functions.While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear.The Team Member is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, manipulate, handle, or feel.The Team Member is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.The Team Member must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions: The Casino is open 24 hours per day, seven (7) days per week; therefore, you must be flexible to work any and all shifts.While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is exposed to second hand tobacco smoke, moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.The Team Member is usually subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes.The Team Member is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
