RESPONSIBILITIES OF A PRESCHOOL TEACHER:

• Supervises, implements and directs preschool child care program and other program staff for specific site.
• Understands and maintains ADHS state licensing rules and regulations and YMCA child care program standards.
• Develops positive relationships with children and parents.
• Encourages member involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
• Controls, orders supplies, and maintains inventory.
• Ensures pertinent site records, files, and other required administrative procedures are completed and maintained.Posts daily all required information in assigned place at program site.
• Works closely with host site personnel in coordination of the site.
• Preserves quality condition of all supplies, equipment, materials, and cleanliness of site.
• Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Incorporates the mission, philosophy, and 4 core values of the YMCA in all communication with participants and co-workers.
• Be detailed at journal documentation.
• Creative and organized to reflect the children’s ideas and attitudes into group books.
• Work with and understand the cultural diversity of local community.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE A PRESCHOOL TEACHER:

• 21 years of age or older
• Current state approved first-aid certification
• Current CPR certification
• Fingerprint and negative TB clearance
• Documentation of high school diploma or equivalency
• Three years qualifying experience in child care field and 6 credit hours in the child care field or 60 documented training hours
• Knowledge and experience in early childhood education or child development
• Possess mature judgment and sound decision-making
• Ability to communicate effectively with members, peers and supervisor.
• Ability to effectively communicate information on YMCA Child Care Programs. Must be observant, safety conscious and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency.
