Position:
Personal Lines Coach
Reports To:
Director of Operations
Essential Functions:
Provides mentoring in Personal Lines service to all ISMs. Works in tandem with Development Team to help ISMs accomplish technology and revenue goals. Ability to provide training on efficiency and best pricing tips for personal lines raters, training on utilizing simple language and technology to sell life insurance.
Position Summary
Requires knowledgeable insurance professional who is a committed, energetic and empathetic mentor with excellent communication skills, a commitment to serve others, the ability to multi-task, problem-solve and who has a desire to achieve and continually learn. Individual must be detail oriented, accurate, organized and efficient.
Business Development
  • Mentors new and existing ISMs on coverages, claims, carriers, processes, and the independent insurance agency industry to promote VIAA’s relationship and the ISMs’ growth and understanding of all things property and casualty insurance related.
  • Provides rates and quotes on coverages/policies as requested, selling new or expansion opportunities when appropriate.
  • Lead guided training sessions for service staff.
  • Engage one-on-one with account managers/CSRs for education or efficiency gains within the agency.
  • Actively embraces and promotes ISMs to use technology to improve customer experience.
  • Monitors and communications with ISMs to track productivity and performance.
  • Keeps informed of industry developments through review of trade press and by attending company training meetings on new coverages and products as requested.
Business Growth
  • Provides training on PL Rater … tips & tricks, efficiency and new member access.
  • Provides training on upsell techniques and tech integrations for Life insurance.
  • Helps communicate benefits of placing business with Strategic Partner Companies.
  • Primary backup for Access Plus personal lines submissions. Training for members struggling to provide complete submissions.
  • Primary lead for VIAA-supported Strategic Partner Company book roll opportunities. Coordinate with Henry/Robert on planning and execution. Help uncover issues that evolve during the book roll process for any member.
  • Provides feedback to team members on ISM issues or concerns.
Member Support
  • Works with ISMs to implement company procedures to maximize retention.
  • Manage AORs moving from Access Plus to the direct
  • Create and share training tools such as work aids, desk sheets, etc
  • Basic understanding of company websites, processes, and guidelines.
  • Reinforces training of book management strategies to help overcome objections.
  • Participates in semi-annual VIAA member conferences as appropriate.
  • Identify agencies operating similarly and help set up connections within the alliance.
  • Seek opportunities to encourage SPC production.
  • Identify repeated VIAA weaknesses; present ideas for solutions to leadership.
  • Stays informed about current vendor programs and SIAA/VIAA offerings.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements
  • 3 years’ experience in the insurance industry.
  • Must be flexible, multitasking, technologically savvy, socially conscious, and interested in helping others.
  • Must be a good communicator with strong verbal skills.
  • Must be willing to travel for meetings with members, insurance companies, or National events as requested. While not overly common, some trips will require overnight for up to a week at a time.
  • Superior computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook, and the ability to fluently navigate Salesforce.
  • In concert with other team members, attend agents’ association functions to develop networking opportunities for new company appointments, develop ISM prospect leads, and nurture existing company and ISM relationships.
  • Detailed, accurate, and a creative thinker.
  • Self-directed, organized and efficient, able to work with many managers.
  • Promote a culture centered around a focus on servicing clients, maximizing profitability for the agency, and using within-book sales for growth opportunities.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision to achieve expected results.
  • Prior teaching/coaching/management experience strongly preferred.
  • Property & Casualty Producer License.
