Description

Valley Healthcare System, Inc., formerly known as Community Health Center of South Columbus, has been serving the community since August 1994. With growth in size and services, Valley Healthcare System provides a range of medical, dental, outreach, behavioral health, and pharmacy services to residents in and around the Chattahoochee Valley region.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an Centralized Scheduler at Valley Healthcare System, Inc. located in Columbus, GA. The Appointment Scheduler will be responsible for managing appointments, providing excellent customer service, and communicating professionally with patients and healthcare providers. Perform clerical duties to include typing, maintaining databases, faxing and scanning patient histories, answering phones, and updating patient account information. Most work will be performed on a phone and desktop computer.

Salary:

$13.00 - Commensurate with experience

Monday-Friday

Weekend availability

Columbus, Ga, Talbotton, Ga. Fortson, Ga.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule, cancel, reschedule, and confirms patient’s appointments. 
  • Answers inquiries via the telephone from all customers that satisfactorily assists their needs 
  • Must maintain effective communication with physician offices and community hospitals to help assist with the patients’ medical care. 
  • Answers telephone as needed and creates telephone encounters to appropriate individuals. 
  • Address telephone encounters within a timely manner. 
  • Responsible for retrieving voicemails and addressing the voicemails within a timely manner .
  • Answer all incoming calls and address the customers’ needs accordingly .
  • Schedule appointments in accordance to the company’s scheduling template per departmental scheduling requirements . 
  • Perform any other duties asked by supervisor when needed

Evaluation: The evaluation of work performance, including: specific duties, responsibilities, demeanor, and work ethic, will be ongoing and implemented by the Business Manager per center policies.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent. A minimum of one (1) year business office training or equivalent experience preferred. Knowledge of medical / imaging terminology. Telephone experience required. Significant computer experience required Customer Service experience required. Must successfully pass a drug screening and a criminal background check.

Compliance: Adhere to company policies and procedures and all Federal, State and Local medical service requirements. To include HIPAA Privacy & Security.

Confidentiality applies to a patient’s Personal Health Information (PHI) and includes: written, oral and electronic communications. Each employee has an obligation to maintain confidentiality after their employment/association with this facility ends. 

Security (HIPAA): Every employee is required to protect their computer log-on and password. You must secure your work area prior to leaving it unattended for an extended period of time. You are required to log-off of your computer and secure your work area prior to leaving at the end of the day. If you have a responsibility for closing or locking files, securing equipment, or locking the building and you do not comply with these requirements, you will be subject to reprimand and/or termination based upon the infraction. We are required by law to protect patient privacy, identifiable patient information, and all properties containing such information.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
