What You Will Do:
The role of Medical Assistant is an important position on our team which works with other staff in achieving high quality, patient centered care. This position requires the desire and ability to work with all types of patients from pediatrics to geriatrics. The successful Medical Assistant also possesses the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team of Medical Assistants, LPNs, Paramedics, and Radiologic Technologists. The Medical Assistant may be required to learn registration skills to assist in providing a high level of service. The Medical Assistant often collaborates with the Registration team, Provider team, and other departments to provide seamless, high quality care to our patients. This position requires effective communication skills and the ability to work calmly under stressful conditions within time constraints. This Medical Assistant must be willing to collaborate with team members from other locations to ensure consistency in the care given across locations. The Medical Assistant must be willing to travel to other Urgent Care sites in order to acquire training and provide coverage as needed. The Medical Assistant will be required to achieve patient satisfaction scores measured by surveys and reported monthly.

High School Diploma or GED required
Experience
Previous Office, Urgent Care or Emergency experience an asset
Certification & Licensures
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required *
* New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
Evidence of certification by the Commonwealth of Virginia's Board of Nursing as a nursing assistant or certification by the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Board of Nursing as a medical assistant preferred
Qualifications
The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, and interpret the appropriate information needed in order to provide care for the age group of patients served.
