Valley Farm Transport is Hiring a Dispatcher Near Stockton, CA

This is a seasonal position, lasting from approximately July 1 to November 1 (dates will fluctuate depending on the start and end of harvest). We have one opening available.

Responsible for coordinating the transport of loads between destinations. Represents the Company in a professional manner and maintains a positive attitude with drivers, customers, growers and potential new customers.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Schedule and dispatch drivers to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, or needs, using two-way radios or telephones for Kraft Heinz and Campbell soup supply company.

2. Confer with customers and/or supervising personnel to address questions, problems, and requests for service or equipment.

3. Monitor personnel or equipment locations and utilization to coordinate service and schedules.

4. Determine types and amounts of equipment or personnel required according to customer requests and needs.

5. Advise drivers about traffic problems such as construction areas, accidents, congestion, weather conditions, and other hazards.

6. Ensure that safety protocols and DOT/California state rules and regulations are followed.

7. Adhere to seniority and avoid favoritism when assigning trucks.

8. Ensure that freight tags and weekly logs are completed accurately before forwarding to Accounts Receivable.

9. Represents the Company in a professional manner and maintains a positive attitude with drivers, customers, growers, and potential new customers.

10. Understand Log Hours and assist with driver education.

11. Inform HR of any issues within 24 hours of said incident.

12. Other duties may be assigned by supervisor or manager.

Day or Night shift available

Meal & Rest Breaks: Per CA Code

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Education: High School Diploma desirable.

Experience: Minimum of two years of related experience.

Other Knowledge & Requirements:

1. Experience with trucking and agricultural industries.

2. Occasionally transport loads to appropriate destinations.

3. Strong knowledge of DOT regulations.

4. Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

5. Must be detail oriented.

6. Must possess excellent communication and decision-making skills.

7. Must deal with dispatchers, safety department, other motorists, law enforcement personnel and DOT officers in a professional manner.

8. Must understand the rules and regulations that govern truck drivers. Must have solid understanding of rules that pertain to hours of service and equipment related requirements.

9. Computer experience desired. Basic understanding of Outlook and ability to send and receive emails required.

10. Bilingual English/Spanish language preferred
