Valley Collaborative is Hiring a Middle School Transitional Coach - Anticipated Openings 7/8/2024 Near Billerica, MA

Position: Transitional Coach @ Valley Middle SchoolReporting to: PrincipalContract Terms: 210 days, 6.5 hours per day, 5 days a weekNumber of Openings: Multiple Valley Collaborative is a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education approved public school entity. Valley also provides Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS), Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB) and Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) programs for Individuals over the age of 18 with special needs. Valley provides a robust pathway for students to continue their careers beyond high school by providing high quality academic, therapeutic, and vocational services to individuals referred by both local school districts and SSA, DDS, MCB and MRC. We provide programming so Students and Individuals with special needs can reach their educational and/or occupational goals.
By sharing its resources with multiple school districts and social service agencies, Valley programs are able to maintain superior quality at reasonable costs to all those it serves while meeting or exceeding state standards. Essential Functions of the Job: This role is a critical link between the school and employment community and plays a pivotal role in the students transition into the world of work. Additionally, this essential team member must demonstrate a positive and caring attitude and must remain flexible and adaptable in order to meet department needs.Qualifications & Responsibilities: Bachelors degree preferredHave experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) implementation in the classroomExperience working with students with PDD, Autism, special learning, emotional, and/or behavioralneeds.Ability to teach, mentor, coach, and advocate for students.Flexibility to meet identified student and programmatic needs.A strong commitment to the goals, mission, and philosophy of the organization.Assist teacher in delivery of the curriculum, lesson plans, and implementation of IEP goals and objectivesEnsure safety of students in all environments.Assist in facilitation of independence, social awareness, language, and appropriate behavior.Responsible for other student concerns that arise, and communicate concerns to PM and/or teacher.Understand and deliver appropriate behavioral plan for each student working collaboratively with theteachers and behaviorists.Assist in collecting student data.Assist students with school and classroom activities, e.g.: lunch, playground, bus load, personal care,toileting.Collaborate with SLP's, OT's, PT's, BCBA's teachers and social workersParticipate in staff meetings and in-service training as requested.All other duties as assigned.Other Competencies (skills, abilities, behavior): Ability to understand and follow both written and oral instructions. Adaptability to perform routine, repetitive tasks within a specific period of time.
Prioritizes work assignments to be completed within time requirements. Must demonstrate a positive and caring attitude toward individuals, clients and staff. Must remain flexible and adaptable in order to meet department needs. Physical Demands: Constant standing or walking Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds Bends, reaches, lifts, carries, twists, pushes, pulls, and handles equipment when performing duties Repetitive wrist/arm movements when on vocational site.
