Valley Cities Behavioral Health Care is Hiring an Activities Coordinator Near Kent, WA

Position Summary

The Activity Coordinator will function as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing recovery-oriented, person-centered care at Recovery Place Seattle/ Kent Inpatient Services. Plans and directs facility activities designed to meet the physical, mental, emotional and social needs and interests of the residents.

Essential Job Functions

  • Plan activities that will meet the physical, mental, emotional and social needs of the residents in recovery.
  • Prepare reports and survey residents for their input in activity planning;
  • Prepare monthly activity calendar:
  • Make sure that planned activities are being carried out;
  • Make holidays a part of activity planning and oversee holiday decorations, displays, and storage;
  • Provide individualized activity programs for residents who desire self-directed, in-room activities;
  • Track activity expenses (supplies, staff, etc.) and keep within the monthly budget;
  • Assist with monthly newsletter;
  • Purchase/organize supplies for each activity
  • Recruit and coordinate activity volunteers;
  • Attend activity meetings/training to become familiar with current standards and new state regulations;
  • Plan family and community events;

  • Assist and support Administrator as required;

AND anything that helps staff coordinate consistent, quality care and service in the facility.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma (or GED) required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year prior related experience in activities required; prior related experience in inpatient programs preferred.
  • Have some knowledge of state and federal regulations that pertain to the activities for residents in inpatient care facilities.
  • The ability to organize activities and work with other departments and/or units to implement the activities.
  • The ability to encourage teamwork with residents and/or staff members.
  • The ability to effectively communicate with residents, staff members, family members, visitors and the public utilizing excellent customer service skills.
  • The ability to work independently with moderate supervision, adapt to changing conditions and frequent demands and acquire new knowledge.
  • The ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons in a variety of multi-tiered relationships and settings.
  • You must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • You must be able to speak, read and write English.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Understanding of and familiarity with mental illness, addiction, withdrawal, and treatment resources for recovery.

· Pass required background checks.

· Familiarity with issues related to homelessness

· Ability to maintain strong professional boundaries

  • Understanding of Trauma-Informed Care principles and service provision
  • Good communication skills, teamwork, and attitude
  • Multicultural awareness
  • Ability to adapt; flexibility

Pay: $23.44 - $30.13 per hour
