Job Summary:

The Maintenance Service Technician II will be assigned tasks to be completed daily by the Lead Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Service Technician II will assist the Lead Maintenance Technician and the Maintenance Service Technician I. Tasks will be assigned in the areas of facilities maintenance, and you will be expected to have knowledge and experience in these areas. The Maintenance Service Technician II will be working indoors and outdoors and will have a very important role in keeping the school campuses safe and clean for staff, students, and visitors, in accordance with city, county, state, and federal regulations. Proper documentation with all work is vitally critical in this role.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Maintain all school buildings and athletic fields to ensure they are safe for staff, student, and visitor use
• Perform preventive maintenance, repair, and installation in connection with electrical, plumbing, and HVAC
• Follow all city, county, state, and federal safety guidelines in the repairs of the facilities
• Communicate effectively with all members of the school campuses and community
• React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned
• Operate all equipment and machinery in a safe manner
• Act as a custodian when necessary
• Initiate work orders/requests
• Adhere to Valley Christian policies, procedures/processes, and codes
• Performs other related assigned duties

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

• Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is a consistent testimony among others
• Faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose beliefs are in agreement with our school
• Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card
• Must be proficient in English
• Ability to read and understand safety data sheets, materials, and training
• Must take OSHA-related and other required safety training as required by VCS
• EPA 608 Certification (Universal or Class 2)
• Ability to work with hand and power tools safely
• Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license 
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings
• Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
• Ability to multi-task with organizational skills
• Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions
• Ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate relationships with outside vendors and businesses

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Experience in building and ground maintenance

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions: 

• Requires prolonged sitting, standing, and walking at times
• Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times using safety measures to do so
• Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching
• Requires climbing and balancing
• Visual acuity is required for diagnosing and repairing maintenance and mechanical problems
• Requires working indoors and outdoors year-round, in varying temperatures, safely
• Must work in noisy and crowded environments
• Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors
• Must be able to drive a mechanical vehicle when required
• Must be able to climb ladders and work in high places
