Registered Nurse - Pediatric General Medical Unit

JOB SUMMARY: This position is accountable for providing competent nursing care and is responsible for coordination of the patient’s plan of care though assessment planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing interventions that lead to established outcomes. This position practices under the direction of the designated nurse executive, within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Children's polices.

Discovery is a 35-bed, acute care medical unit. General duty nursing care is provided to the acutely ill pediatric patient on Discovery. Primary population served include GI patients, Infectious Diseases, Metabolic Diagnosis, and acute viral illnesses. Patient Care Services are provided utilizing the LEGACY care delivery model of care. The RN delivers and coordinates care in a collaborative manner with unlicensed staff, as well as staff from other disciplines.

EXPERIENCE:

• Six months to one year of experience is preferred, new grads welcome to apply
• Experience in pediatrics or hospital inpatient setting a plus
• Bilingual skills desirable

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIFICATIONS:

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program, Bachelor’s in Nursing strongly preferred
• Active California Registered Nurse licensure (RN)
• If applying post-graduation but prior to license, will be considered for the Nurse Tech position and transferred to RN upon licensing.
• HeartCode Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
• Pediatric Emergency Assess, Resuscitation & Stabilization (PEARS) within 12 months of hire or transfer into position

POSITION DETAILS: Full time, 6 x 11.5-hour shifts per 2-week pay period, various shifts available
PAY RANGE: $40 - $66.20
DICSLAIMER: Top of pay scale for RN I-RN II is $66.20 and top of scale for RN III-RNIV is $70.00
