DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Under the general direction of the Director of Student Nutrition Services or Designee, performs technical accounting work in establishing, analyzing, auditing, reconciling and maintaining financial records for the Student Nutrition Services Department; process and assure accuracy of accounts payable and account receivable transactions; compile information for State and Federal Reimbursement Claims; prepare a variety ty of accounting, budgetary, record and statistical reports and statements of considerable responsibility within the Student Nutrition Services Department.


REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Plan and perform a variety of complex budget and fiscal simulations, analyses and calculations. E
  • Compile data, audit and complete State and Federal reimbursement claim reports. E
  • Process and prepare financial information for accounts payable, accounts receivable, catering and other assigned accounts. E
  • Assist in compiling and processing data for District budget and/or financial transactions on a timely basis. E
  • Monitor procedures related to year-end closing and ensure accurate transition to new fiscal year. E
  • Provide support to specialized financial and budget functions on a timely basis. E
  • Handle cash and other funds received. Record and prepare deposit slips for bank deposits. E
  • Implement and monitor department cash procedures. E
  • Establish and maintain a variety of ledgers. E
  • Enter records of District financial transactions on computer for data processing, updates and revises records as necessary. E
  • Prepare accounts receivable billing, posting and collection activities. E
  • Prepare transfer of funds and balance accounts monthly. E
  • Monitors Cafeteria Fund cash flow. E
  • Audit accounts and financial records on a continuing basis. E
  • Utilize, update and enter data on a computer program specific to the Student Nutrition Services Dept. E
  • Develop guidelines and forms for daily reporting procedures and instructions. E
  • Conduct annual workshop/in-service training for site personnel. E
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. E


EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS:

  • Graduation from High School supplemented by A.S./A.A. degree or 60 college units, with an emphasis in Business, Accounting, Marketing or Finance.
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, budgeting and/or financial management, preferably in a public school setting or an equivalent combination of experience and education.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Accounting and bookkeeping principles, practice and procedures.
  • Generally Accepted Accounting and Auditing Principals, practice and procedures.
  • Preparation of financial statements and comprehensive accounting reports.
  • Computerized spreadsheets at the proficient and/or advanced level to include the development of macros and to include at least one of the following: Microsoft Excel, Lotus 1-2-3 or Quattro Pro.
  • Advanced level word processing computerized programs to include one of the following: WordPerfect, Microsoft Word or Lotus AmiPro.

ABILITY TO:

  • Perform accounting work of significant complexity.
  • Prepare, develop, monitor and maintain assigned District–wide accounts and reports.
  • Prepare clear, concise and comprehensive reports and recommendations verbally and in writing. Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
  • Work independently with little direction.
  • Meet schedules and time lines.
  • Plan and organize work.
  • Use a ten-key adding machine by touch.


LICENSES AND OTHER PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
