The IT Department manages the primary product of the brand – the publishing of data on businesses – and develops new IT products and services for the membership to assist with the presentation and delivery of that data to company stakeholders.

Job Purpose
The purpose of this position is to work closely with the CTO, IT Leadership, and company Stakeholders and is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the data quality of the company while generating value for other membership offices through data visualization products. The areas of focus include data infrastructure, data lake, data mart, data warehouse, data ingestion tools and data visualization. The enterprise data team consists of Data Engineers, Database Administrators, Business Intelligence, and Data Analysts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Maintain, manage, and establish where needed the overall data and data application architecture.
• Define data architectural standards for the design and deployment of company solutions.
• Ensure databases are current with patching and necessary upgrades.
• Availability and integrity of data.
• Design data distribution and archiving solutions.
• Ensure database security and access including backups, disaster recovery and security measures.
• Manage all development, staging, and production environments including the optimization of costs associated with environments.
• Maintain, manage, or create ETL/ELT applications.
• Oversee and work of Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and Database Administrators and assist with necessary job duties and functions as required. This could include but not limited to:
o Developing complex SQL for use in ETL/ELT applications.
o Developing/Modifying SQL tables, procedures, and functions
o Developing/Modifying PostgreSQL tables, procedures, and functions
o Unit testing SQL Code
o Regularly performs routine tests and modifications to ensure that database(s) are performing and running correctly.
• Ensure documentation for data applications and data flow diagrams are current.
• Examine existing systems, products, and programs to identify areas for improvement and integration.
• Recommend, determine and implement approved technologies suitable to use for various projects.
• Conduct research on existing systems, processes, and configurations to determine items to be refactored for continuous improvements and efficiencies based on market and industry trends.
• Guide and direct technical and professional growth of Enterprise data team
• Work with outside vendors to develop and implement specific aspects of solution architecture.
• Conduct proof-of-concepts with membership offices or other vendors to ensure they have access to the necessary information, environments, and analytic tools.
• Participating in reviewing the documented requirements (technical, business, functional), that could impact data architecture and provide solutions were necessary for the team to implement.
• Interact with customers, as required.
• Participate in prioritization sessions with stakeholders to determine what items in the backlog should be worked on.
• Manage the delivery of prioritized work and communicate the status to necessary stakeholders.
• Perform liaison duties between users, products, development, quality assurance and operations personnel in the areas of systems design, modifications or trouble shooting.
• Ensure effective communications.
• Direct and prioritize the workload of direct report team members.
• Mentor associates and foster a learning and growth environment.
• Ongoing studies and learning and development activity to keep skills current.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has supervisory responsibilities which could include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent
• Two to five years of successful experience leading and managing people in a team-based environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects
• Ability to meet stated customer-initiated deadlines.
• One to three years of experience with project management tools and methodologies, software development lifecycle and problem solving, overseeing multi-faceted software deployment for external clients.
• Five to seven years of experience as a technical project manager or project leader in an online commerce or software venue
• 5 -10 Years of SQL Experience. This experience can be with any ETL or database that supports ANSI compliant SQL.
• 5 - 10 years’ experience performance tuning of SQL
• Experience with data modeling using ERWIN is preferred.
• A balance of technical, business and communication skills
• Proficient in database management systems (DBMS) especially SQL Server and PostgreSQL
• Experience with performing database platforms upgrades.
• Experience with migrating SQL Servers to AWS RDS or AWS EC2.
• Experience with deploying code and database DDLs using DevOps pipelines is preferred.
• Certification and proficiency in Scrum methodology, e.g. Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Advanced CSPO is preferred
• Experience with working in an Agile environment, GIT based source control platforms, server-side rendering (SSR), performance testing and optimization of rendering paths and page load speeds, optimizing and automating packaging and deployment of web applications, functional programming concepts.
• Working in a remote environment outside a traditional office environment
Preferred:
• Working knowledge of AWS RDS database instances and classes
• Experience using AWS data and migrations services.
• Experience with administering SQL Server in a multi-cloud environment.
