Position Description

The Server Patching Lead will manage and implement patching strategies within a complex enterprise environment. They will deploy patches using WSUS, SCCM and Azure Automation tools and support and troubleshoot both Windows and Linux Servers.

This role offers flexibility in location, with the option for placement in the following areas: Washginton DC Metro, Boyers, PA or Macon, GA. While it supports full-time remote work, there will be occasional onsite requirements. Remote work necessitates a high-level trust in our employees and we strictly adhere to the details found below in our Remote Work Policy. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field is desired but not required.
  • 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience supporting servers in a complex enterprise environment. 
  • Expertise in deploying patches to systems using WSUS, SCCM and Azure Automation tools. 
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting Windows and Linux Servers.
  • Demonstrable history of leading successful patching deployments of enterprise-class solutions.
  • Skilled at producing technical documents and engineering diagrams.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Team-focused attitude.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the implementation of comprehensive server patching strategies for a diverse enterprise environment, ensuring timely and effective patch deployment.
  • Utilize WSUS, SCCM and Azure Automation tools to deploy, manage and monitor patches across Windows and Linux server environments.
  • Implement automation solutions and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, etc.) to streamline patch deployment processes, minimize downtime, and enhance efficiency.
  • Coordinate and conduct patch testing activities to validate the compatibility and impact of patches on diverse server configurations.
  • Lead efforts in troubleshooting patch-related issues on Windows and Linux Servers, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure swift resolution.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of patching procedures, configurations and troubleshooting steps to facilitate knowledge sharing and team collaboration.
  • Ensure that server patching activities adhere to security policies, industry best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, security teams and other stakeholders to align patching activities with overall IT objectives and security goals.
  • Develop and maintain patching-related reports and metrics, providing insights into the status of patching compliance and performance.
