Responsibilities

Obtains blood specimens and collects nonblood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs for laboratory testing. Performs screening tests and reports results. Processes specimens to prepare them for laboratory testing. Prepares specimens for reference laboratory dispatch and testing.

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma GED also accepted. Required
• Certification requested from an accredited school of phlebotomy.

Experience Qualifications

• Experience with phlebotomy. Preferred
• Experience in a lab or hospital setting. Preferred

Experience in working with persons with mental illness is preferred. Strong verbal and written skills are required. Knowledge of community resources. Strong documentation skills are required. Valid Kansas driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance. Should be able to work independently in a high-paced, high-stress situation. Must be at least 18 years of age or older and be able to pass pre-employment background checks. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, and sit. Extensive computer and telephone work is required so the ability to operate a computer for up to 90% of the shift is required. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 10 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds with assistance. 

Salary Range

$16.42 - $17.97 - $20.80
