Position Description

The IT System Administrator I is responsible for assisting with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the network infrastructure and devices of the organization. The IT System Administrator I also provides technical support and troubleshooting to the users and staff and ensures the security and reliability of the network and systems. This role will work closely with the IT team to ensure the smooth operation of the company’s IT infrastructure.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Works with the IT Network Administrator to Install, configure, and update network hardware and software, such as routers, switches, firewalls, servers, and wireless access points.
  • Monitor and analyze network and system performance and availability and identify and resolve any issues or problems.
  • Works with the IT Network and Systems Administrators to Implement and enforce network security policies and procedures and perform regular backups and disaster recovery operations.
  • Assist in the design and planning of network expansion and upgrades, and research of recommend new technologies and solutions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users and staff on network-related issues, and document and maintain network configurations and inventories.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to ensure the smooth operation and integration of the network.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher in computer science, information technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • One or more relevant certifications, such as CompTIA Network , Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft MCP.
  • At least one year of experience in network administration, installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of network protocols, standards, and architectures, such as TCP/IP, Ethernet, LAN, WAN, VPN, and WLAN.
  • Proficiency in network hardware and software, such as routers, switches, firewalls, servers, and wireless access points.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve network problems, and to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and security.

Physical Requirements

Tolerance for sitting long periods of time. Possess finger dexterity to write, type, and use a calculator. Maintain adequate vision to view small print and computer terminal. Ability to speak and hear, walk throughout facilities with occasional light lifting (25 pounds), stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching with hands and arms required. Ability to travel between multiple facilities as required to perform core job duties.
