Uvalde Memorial Hospital is Hiring a Patient Accounting Manager Near Uvalde, TX

Position Summary:

The Hospital Patient Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the patient accounting department. This role involves managing staff, ensuring accurate patient billing, and collaborating with other hospital departments to streamline the revenue cycle. The Manager reports to the Patient Accounting Director and plays a key role in achieving the hospital's financial objectives. This is an exempt position.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Staff Management:
    • Supervise patient accounting staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
    • Ensure staff compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  2. Billing and Collections:
    • Oversee patient billing, collections, and claims processing to ensure timely and accurate billing.
    • Coordinate with insurance companies, patients, and other stakeholders to resolve billing issues.
  3. Revenue Cycle Management:
    • Collaborate with the Patient Accounting Director to optimize the hospital's revenue cycle.
    • Monitor accounts receivable (AR) and identify areas for improvement.
    • Implement strategies to reduce AR days and improve cash flow.
  4. Compliance and Regulations:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and insurance requirements.
    • Conduct regular audits of patient accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  5. Reporting and Analysis:
    • Generate and analyze financial reports related to patient accounts.
    • Provide insights to the Patient Accounting Director on trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  6. Customer Service:
    • Oversee patient inquiries and complaints, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolution.
    • Develop and maintain a customer-oriented approach within the patient accounting department.
  7. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other hospital departments (e.g., Admissions, Clinical, Finance) to ensure seamless patient accounting processes.
    • Participate in cross-departmental meetings to address revenue cycle challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in healthcare patient accounting or revenue cycle management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in patient accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Analytical skills to assess and improve financial processes.
  • Certifications: Certifications in healthcare finance or revenue cycle management (e.g., HFMA, CRCR) are preferred but not required.
