Utz Quality Foods is seeking a Part-Time R&D Sensory Technician to join our team in Hanover, PA. This position supports the Utz R&D and Quality teams by facilitating distribution of samples to external sensory sites, setting up and coordinating internal sensory panels, evaluating manufactured product against Product Quality Standards, and creating product samples to be used for business reviews. The position will be under the guidance of an external sensory consultant and have a strong interaction with product developers.

Candidates must have fundamental understanding of common laboratory testing methods for snack foods including analytical and sensory evaluation. Candidates should possess at least 2 years' experience in food preparation/testing OR possess equivalent education in food science. Candidates must be able to balance multiple priorities and projects at once. Candidates must have strong organizational skills and the ability to work across teams.

Part-Time R&D Sensory Technician:

• Meet daily with external sensory consultant and/or internal product developers to prioritize work.
• Coordinate external sensory evaluations by collecting, packing and sending product to external sensory lab.
• Coordinate internal sensory evaluations by recruiting employees, setting up mobile sensory booths, and recording sensory evaluation results.
• Set up product evaluations of currently manufactured products against Product Quality Standards for internal stakeholder review.
• Pack product to be used for Sales samples, including making product on the lab bench.
• Data management and report-out
• Support shelf-life evaluation.
• Perform other duties as assigned that will impact and support the overall outcome of the company and department objectives.

Requirements:

• Requires experience in food quality assurance or R&D labs OR equivalent education.
• Understanding of common laboratory testing methods for snack foods including analytical and sensory evaluation.
• Strong mathematical skills with the ability to analyze data and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to comprehend and retain technical written instruction and product specific knowledge.
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized workspace; demonstrated history of attention to detail and ability to execute work independently.
• Experience working in cross functional teams.
• Experience with common data management software and communication tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, PowerBI, Minitab).
• Ability to balance priorities and manage multiple projects on an on-going basis.
• Ability to effectively listen, communicate, and interface across several organizational levels.
• Ability to maximize teamwork philosophies and achievements.
