Job Overview:
We're seeking an experienced veterinary receptionist to join our practice. In addition to providing top-notch care for our furry patients, our technicians play a versatile role, assisting in various tasks including answering phones and maintaining cleanliness throughout the day. Our clinic works as a team, so we are looking for someone who is willing to help out across the clinic, too. This is a great opportunity to learn some vet assistant tasks!
Our practice offers a balanced with 10-hour shifts over four days. We are looking for someone who can work every weekday except Wednesday.
No Wednesdays, No weekends! :)
Duties:
- Greet clients and their pets in a friendly and professional manner
- Schedule appointments and maintain the appointment calendar
- Answer phone calls and respond to client inquiries
- Collect and update patient information in medical records
- Assist with check-in and check-out procedures
- Process payments for services rendered
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area
- Assist veterinary staff with animal handling and restraint when necessary
- Provide basic pet care instructions to clients
- Assist with laboratory procedures as needed
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is preferred
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures preferred
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations professionally
- Proficient computer skills for managing medical records and scheduling appointments
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping
- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team
Skills:
- Pet care experience, including feeding and administering medications
- Animal handling skills for safe restraint during examinations or procedures
- Basic dog training knowledge for behavioral guidance during visits or interactions
- Understanding of laboratory procedures for sample processing and analysis
- Proficiency in veterinary terminology for effective communication with veterinary staff
