UTMB Health Careers is Hiring an Assistant Professor Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Minimally Invasive Gynecology Services Near Galveston, TX

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is currently seeking outstanding applicants to help grow the department’s Minimally Invasive Gynecology (MIGS) Program. Collaborating with both the department’s academic faculty and community-based, employed physician network, this full-time academic physician will provide in and outpatient services in support of the department’s growing Minimally Invasive Gynecology practice. Services will be provided across the UTMB-Health System with services concentrated in the MIGS clinical office located on UTMB’s Clear Lake Campus in Webster, Texas (approximately halfway between Houston and Galveston) and on UTMB’s Galveston Island Main Campus. UTMB offers DaVinci robots to support the MIGS program on three of its four hospital campuses and has earned Center of Excellence in MIGS designation from the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) for the last 8 consecutive years. The MIGS program currently includes two physicians with a Focused Practice Designation in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery by the ABOG. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has a residency program with 8 residents per year, an MFM Fellowship program with 3 fellows per year and a recently approved Urogynecology Fellowship program which will be starting its 3rd fellow in 2024. The department hopes to start a MIGS fellowship program in the coming years. The scope of this position will include consultative services on complex gynecology patients, clinician education and teaching, administration and/or scholarship. Faculty rank will be determined based on qualifications and tenure track is available.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Candidates for this position should:

  • Be a graduate of an approved medical school and have completed an ACGME-approved OB/GYN Residency Training program (or the equivalent),.
  • Be eligible for employment in the United States.
  • Not be restricted from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or other insurance programs.
  • Have a valid Texas Medical License without restrictions.
  • Be board certified/board eligible in general Obstetrics and Gynecology through the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology (ABOG) or its equivalent and hold or be eligible for a Focused Practice Designation in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery by the ABOG.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Have completed AAGL approved fellowship at MIGS.
