We are looking for a Cell Supervisor, that is safety and quality conscious and willing to learn and grow with the business. This is a role where you will work in a TEAM environment. SUMMARY OF POSITION: This position is accountable for directing employees in the safe and efficient production of quality railroad tank cars while maintaining the required production within their assigned cell. This position is accountable to implement improvement projects which includes maintaining progress reports, and displays, developing/managing cell improvements, and contributing to the achievement of plant goals. In addition, the position must help maintain good customer relations through the efficient and effective management of new car operations in accordance with the Company’s Standard Operating Procedures, AAR, DOT and FRA rules and regulations. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Ensuring all employees work safely and adhere to all safety and environmental rules, regulations and policies set forth by the company and all regulatory agencies. Adhere to the quality policies, processes, and procedures as well as ensure all employees do the same. Maintain production schedule through effective supervision and coordination of direct reports as well as all other internal customers. Control costs within assigned cell which includes but is not limited to labor and shop supplies as well as effectively managing parts in your area of responsibility. Ensure all employees in your area of responsibility are properly trained in all aspects of their position. Conform to all regulatory requirements such as FRA, DOT, OSHA, etc. Modeling and adhering to the UTLX Values. Ensures that safety is always the priority. Ensure quality is adhered to and balance productivity, cost, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Work to continuously improves in all areas. Ensure effective employee relations. Provide coaching and development and resolves employee issues through problem resolution. Manage departmental performance measurements, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to manager. Ensures that incident investigations are properly processed, root cause and corrective/preventative action is obtained and communicated. Manage parts and material as well as effectively utilize lean tools within your area. Participates in and actively supports quality projects and activities and responsible care initiatives to ensure that the Company achieves its goals. SKILLS/SPECIFICATIONS Computer skills include Microsoft Office and Sharepoint. Problem solving/analysis skills and Change Management. Time management and organizational skills. Listening and feedback skills to include proficiency communicating with employees, peers, managers, internal and external customers. Results driven. Demonstrated self-development as well as the development of others which may include direct training experience of employees as well as preparing and organizing learning activities. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with at least 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience. Associates degree along with at least 2 years of demonstrated leadership experience is preferred. Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Exposure to lean tools is beneficial (5S, Kaizen, etc.); Practical experience with visual management.
