We are looking for a Full-Time Research Coordinator I to join the Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Management (DSHS) program as part of the Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research (CHPPR) at the UTHealth School of Public Health in Houston, TX. The DSHS project's primary aim is to improve the healthcare system’s ability to identify patients at risk for developing diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Specifically, this includes identifying and developing an intervention for patient populations who have either pre-diabetes or uncontrolled hypertension, treatment, and management of patients with diabetes, heart disease, and associated risk factors. In this role, you will work with a multidisciplinary team of consultants, researchers, community partners, and clinics to improve clinic workflows, patient education, provider training, and EHR optimization.

Position Summary:
The Research Coordinator I will assist with a 5-year Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Management grant. The grant aims to improve the healthcare system’s ability to identify patients at risk for developing diabetes, diabetes management, and cardiovascular disease. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, Co-Investigator, and program manager, the Research Coordinator I will assist with the day-to-day administrative project management and may provide scientific direction for research projects of considerable scope and complexity. The Research Coordinator I will collaborate with healthcare systems to improve clinical processes and outcomes, and use practice facilitation skills as related to diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. The coordinator will also implement an equity-focused multidisciplinary approach to assist health centers prevent, detect, control, and manage hypertension and high cholesterol, particularly in communities burdened by health disparities and inequities.
