Position Summary:
Coordinates departmental billing and collection activities of third party payers. Interfaces between MSRDP agencies and third party payers regarding collection activities and prepares, analyze and reconciles reports on collections activity.
Bilingual preferred.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Contacts and communicates effectively with staff, patients, department representatives, and representative of third party payers.
2. Coordinates the activities of a collection team.
3. Reconciles and analyzes reports.
4. Maximizes reimbursement by coordinating collection activities on all receivables.
5. Inputs client account collection data and daily cash receipts for submittal to accounting into computer.
6. Maintains records of all collection activities (i.e., insurance filing, appeal documentation, claim maintenance, etc.)
7. Prepares documents necessary to issue refunds to individuals whose accounts are overpaid.
8. Contacts third party payers to effect payment on patient accounts.
9. Coordinates all collection team activity.
10. Documents activity using personal computer or CRT.
11. May perform other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Working knowledge of the patient billing system. Bilingual preferred.
Minimum Education:
High school graduation or equivalent required. Graduate from a vocational business school with a minor in a job related field preferred.
Minimum Experience:
Four years experience in the patient billing operations required.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
Security Sensitive:
This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
