Description

POSITION PURPOSE

  • Provide, oversee, and administer a wide range of psychosocial evaluation/assessment, diagnostic, counseling therapy, crisis intervention, and case management services that integrate behavioral health programs with primary health care.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide counseling, therapy, and/or psychotherapy to clients and families.
  • Prepare treatment plans, discharge plans, and follow-up care programs.
  • Provide therapeutic crisis intervention, for those with serious disturbance problems or emergency services as required in alignment with, “A Guidebook of Professional Practices for Behavioral Health and Primary Care Integration.”
  • Collect patient data through interview, case history, psychological tests, and/or observational techniques; evaluates data to identify causes of problems and to determine proper therapeutic approach or referral to other specialists. Keep abreast of patient data to ensure appropriate treatment and care are delivered.
  • Consult with other therapists, treatment agencies and professionals in the performance of therapeutic and/or casework.
  • Refer clients to appropriate service agencies, and inform them of patient rights and responsibilities.
  • Provide and/or arranges patient/client therapeutic interventions in a crisis condition and for those with serious disturbance problems.
  • Establish and maintain case files, referrals, and other related documents for the treatment of clients; prepare related documentation for civil commitment hearings or other legal proceedings.

ANCILLARY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Plan and facilitate community outreach and education activities, as appropriate to the position; may serve as a liaison and representative to community organizations and schools.
  • Perform various administrative functions such as monitoring budgets and preparing reports and correspondence; may participate in a variety of research projects to develop service plans, and may propose changes to program policies and procedures.
  • Provide formal teaching, consultation, and in-service training to relevant professionals in immediate and proper handling of and/or referral of a variety of matters.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or an equivalent field
  • 2 years of experience in behavioral health or social work.
  • Current State of Utah Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW, CSW, ACMHC, CMHC, LFMT, or MFT) license in good standing required or license eligible.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Knowledge and understanding of clinical social work and mental health counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards, as well as social and vocational rehabilitation.
  • Experience in pediatric social work, and trauma work.
  • Experience using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems such as ECW and Help2.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of psychological testing interpretation, interviewing and psychological/developmental evaluation skills, and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Knowledge of community mental health resources, clinical operations and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
  • Ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic programs and to make individual modifications.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients' rights.
  • Ability to build interpersonal relationship and deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently, with limited supervision and direction and as a highly functioning team member.
  • Ability to think critically and make effective administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ABILITIES

  • Must be able to sit, stand, talk and hear for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement to type and work on computer.
  • General office environment conditions, with moderate noise levels.
  • May be exposed to potentially dangerous bodily fluids or hazardous chemicals.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • This is a FT Non-Exempt Position that pays $30-$42/hour (including admin time) depending on experience
