is seeking to hire a Full-Time HEAT Eligibility Worker

This position would work 40 hours a week (approx. 8 : 00-5 : 00pm Mon-Fri). The location varies. The Wage is $18.00 / hour.
The HEAT Eligibility Worker is responsible to determine client eligibility for HEAT utility and water assistance in accordance with Federal, State and Utah Community Action policies and procedures.
Provide quality services to customers, referring to outside agencies as needed and offering education in budgeting and energy-saving measures.
Must monitor caseload regularly to ensure services are provided in a timely manner. May be asked to assist in other program areas, such as community outreach, editing and mentoring.
As a representative of the agency, HEAT staff are responsible for providing exceptional customer service and advocating for clients using a trauma-informed, client-centered approach.

Qualifications
Highschool diploma or GED required
Previous HEAT experience preferred
Bilingual Spanish Preferred
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for the determination of client eligibility for the HEAT utility and water assistance program, client education in budgeting and energy-saving measures, referrals to outside agencies as needed.
May be asked to assist in other program areas, such as community outreach, editing and mentoring.
Must maintain full compliance for HEAT program in accordance with Federal, State, and Utah Community Action policies and procedures.
Able to work with diverse clients, ensuring quality customer service and representing the agency in a professional manner.
Follows all HEAT / HELP Program eligibility guidelines in awarding HEAT / HELP funds and maintains all documentation ensuring they are complete and meet federal, state and agency requirements.
Monitors database reports to ensure services are provided in a timely manner, maintaining LIHEAP compliance standards.
Assists clients in providing budget and energy saving education.
Provides client referrals to community resources, working to develop a broad knowledge of community resources.
Communicates with families in their preferred language when possible, accessing translation services as needed.
Keeps supportive and appropriate boundaries when working with families.
Participates and supports outreach events, working with community partners in a professional manner to assist HEAT / HELP eligible clients.
Participates in recruitment, as assigned, to share information about program services with community members.
Provides eligibility and quality services to clients of the HEAT program helping them to meet utility expenses, reduce utility costs and increase financial literacy.
Mentor seasonal staff, as assigned, and demonstrate leadership on the team.
