Job Summary

The Department of Internal Medicine is seeking a Manager of Financial Analysis to help lead its financial mission in close collaboration with the Assistant Director of Finance. Internal Medicine is the largest academic department at UT Southwestern, with over 1,600 employees, including over 700 faculty, organized with 14 divisions that provide excellent education, research, and patient care for which the department is renowned. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a finance and accounting team that focuses on continuous improvement and internal customer satisfaction coupled with thoughtful mentorship and training for the financial and accounting staff. The successful manager will utilize strong communication and organizational skills to collaborate with leadership to effect change across the department.

Experience and Education

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor\'s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and six (6) years progressively responsible experience in finance, with demonstrated experience in planning, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Master\'s degree in Business, and healthcare experience preferred. 

Job Duties

• Responsible for departmental financial analysis and reporting, in support of budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.
• Provide analytical support to divisions.
• Design and implement periodic operational reports as well as ad hoc reporting. 
• Develop multi-year cash flow projections for departmental projects. Identify areas of financial risk, present findings, and make recommendations to senior management.
• Partner with departmental and institutional IR function to identify, implement, and maintain appropriate financial software and database applications.
• Provide strategic financial consultation and guidance to senior management regarding business proposals and make recommendations for optimizing the financial impact of business initiatives.
• Manage and mentor financial analysis staff to ensure optimal operational expertise as well as technical knowledge.
• Provide advice to department management regarding key process improvement opportunities and serve as critical resource for implementation.
• Complete more complex special projects as requested.
• Develop annual projection of capital needs and manage the allocation of funds throughout the year as projects are approved.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
