STRONG STAR (South Texas Research Organizational Network Guiding Studies on Trauma And Resilience) is looking for a motivated individual to support two projects conducted on the Fort Cavazos military installation. STRONG STAR provides much needed treatment and prevention services to active duty military members, veterans, and their families through a variety of programs and research study protocols.
The first project is a Texas state funded program that provides evidence based post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) treatment and primary prevention family services to military and veteran families following trauma and throughout military related transitions. The second project is a DOD-funded research study designed to evaluate a forgiveness-focused intervention on the treatment of chronic anger and aggression for military service members and veterans who have experienced military-related betrayal.
This individual will serve as a vital member of our team and will receive training in clinical research management, implementation, and program evaluation. This individual will interact closely with military service members, veterans, families with children, other support staff, clinicians, and researchers.
Under supervision, this individual will provide assistance in performing assigned and delegated tasks in support of clinical and research projects. Responsibilities include assisting in the recruitment, collection, management, evaluation, and interpretation of data for clinical research and program evaluation. For our Strong Families program, meetings with families may occur in-home or in STRONG STAR offices. This position requires accommodating families’ schedules, including evening and minimal weekend appointments. This position requires a personal vehicle to accommodate travel to local military-related events and in-home appointments. All travel will be reimbursed. Preferred candidates will have experience working within a mental healthcare system, especially working with military personnel, veterans, or children and families. Fluency in Spanish is highly valued.
