Job Summary

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the proper warehousing and inventory control of equipment, repair parts and supplies for our marine fleet in the shipyard. The Warehouse manager will also oversee the daily operations of the facility to include buildings, grounds and equipment maintenance/repair. He/she also coordinates with the purchasing department to ensure proper receiving, local pickups and transfer of warehouse material to the vessels.

On Warehousing and Distribution

• Ensures effective utilization of warehouse areas and identifies all material coming in and going out by properly marking and updating in the management system.
• Coordinates with the purchasing department with regards to incoming deliveries, pickups and vessel delivery schedules/locations.
• Coordinates with the engineering and crewing departments to meet the needs they might have.
• Maintains the highest standards of customer service to the vessels by immediately attending and resolving vessel issues pertaining to the supply and dispatch of material.
• Maintain inventory levels in the warehouse by monitoring minimum and maximum order levels in the management system.
• Ensures accuracy of product inventories against system records by conducting cycle counts a periodic basis following appropriate guidelines released by the finance department.
• Conducts regular cycle count as per established guidelines. Evaluates and analyzes with the purchasing department inventory variance. Implements preventative countermeasures based on the result of inventory variance analysis.
• Immediately resolves inventory discrepancies in coordination with the purchasing and accounting department.
• Develops and effectively implements warehouse and inventory monitoring systems and procedures.
• Ensures the integrity and completeness of the management system
• Provides advice and support to other departments on planning, inventory control and warehouse matters.
• Develops process initiatives to optimize departmental operations in accordance with overall business objectives. Provides clear directions and general guidance to the coworkers in the formulation of basic policies and procedures and ensures these are translated into action.
• Maintaining and tracking tools, PPE, and other items required to be distributed out to the shipyard.

On Facilities

• Maintaining and repairing buildings and equipment by contracting with outside sources and internal sources.
• Ensuring that the lighting, heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems are operating properly to provide optimal working conditions for the other employees.
• Supervising the design and upkeep of the facilities’ grounds and landscaping
• Adhering to and improving health and safety standards
• Planning for and overseeing major renovations and new construction

Needed Skills and Education

Valid Driver’s License

Comprehensive knowledge of Warehousing and logistics procedures

Computer Skills in Outlook, Excel and the ability to learn new programs

Ability to operate forklift and some rigging skills

Ability to communicate and work as a contributing team member with all levels of the organization

High School Diploma/GED required, college degree preferred

Must be available after hours and some weekends

Travel may be required periodically
