Job Title: Packing Associate

Summary: The Packing Associate will be responsible for the efficient and accurate completion of day-to-day packing duties and objectives. The Packing Associate will work in a light-filled, state of the art manufacturing facility, together with a team of highly motivated and skilled team members to ship our award-winning proprietary transportation seating.

Responsibilities: As the Packing Associate you will:

  • Pack materials and process shipping documents according to established policies and procedures.
  • Verify information on the packing documents matches the contents of the boxes to be shipped.
  • Operate staple guns, banding machine, crane, forklift, pallet jacks or hand trucks to prepare and stage product for shipping.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of materials in the area.
  • Verify/Audit others work to ensure accurate packing. Follow packing SOP’s to ensure product and shipping boxes to do not get damaged in transit.
  • Label products with part number, description, quantity per container, and order number.
  • Load and unload trucks and vans.
  • Keep the area cleaned and organized. Rotate between lines. 
  • Assist in maintaining safe and effective work environment including storage practices.
  • Properly use and maintain equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility.
  • Observe and adhere to all Company rules and safety practices to ensure a hazard free work environment is maintained.
  • Understand that all team members will need to pitch in, in other areas, as needed to help meet our goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

You’re a great fit for this position if this describes you;

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in a production facility, shipping, receiving or materials handling.
  • Basic knowledge of Empirical and Metric hardware.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Skilled at performing basic shop math calculations (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying, measuring, weighing and converting decimals).
  • Proficient in current computer software: MS Applications; PowerPoint, Word, Excel.
  • An understanding of ERP systems, Syteline experience is a plus.
  • Able to meet deadlines and understand the department schedule.
  • Forklift certified or able to be forklift certified. 
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs and stand for up to 10 to 12 hours per day if necessary.
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced, team environment, under pressure with time constrains while responding and adapting to change favorably and quickly.
  • Safety is at the forefront of your mind when you are working and you gladly follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment at United Safety. 
  • You bring with you a positive attitude and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Help United Safety operate effectively by adhering to United Safety’s attendance and punctuality standards and does not burden co-workers and supervisors unfairly with unnecessary and unplanned absences and lateness. 
  • Understand that you are part of a growing company, you have no concerns with and able to work extended hours/over-time as needed as well as some Saturdays to support that growth.
