USPI is Hiring a Pre Op PACU RN Coordinator FT Near Atlanta, GA

Resurgens Surgery Center is a single-specialty outpatient surgery practice that specializes in orthopedic surgery. Our surgery center is a joint venture between Resurgens Orthopedic Group and USPI, the nation's largest provider of surgical services.

Job Summary:

Supervises and coordinates activities in the Preop/PACU and pharmacy purchasing function by performing the following duties.

    • Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following.
    • Supervises activities to ensure appropriate patient care and monitors efficiency of service in the Preop/PACU.Coordinates patient care with business office, admissions and Operating room. 
    • Observes nursing care and visits patients to ensure that nursing care is carried out as directed, and treatment is administered in accordance with physicians' instructions.
    • Ensures that adequate staffing is available, coordinates staffing responsibilities and designates assignments on a daily basis. Prepares weekly and monthly nursing schedules including Preop/PACU, PAT and Total Joint team.
    • Supervises the daily schedule to ensure that the Preop/PACU runs efficiently and productively. This includes coordinating breaks and lunch relief, assisting in pre-operative and recovery rooms.
    • Coordinates with physicians, medical staff and administration to ensure that effective communications are maintained. 
    • Assign staff to put away and restock supplies.
    • Responsible for monthly code cart checks and pharmacy expiration dates.
    • Oversees the pharmacy purchasing function for the Center, keeping adequate stock to meet patient care, staff and operational needs. Provides backup pharmacy purchasing in the absence of the pharmacy RN.
    • Participates in orientation and training of Preop/PACU personnel. Investigates and resolves complaints, refers unusual problems to the Clinical Director.
    • Participates in designing educational in-services for clinical staff.
    • Provides input and feedback to Clinical Director for staff performance evaluations and competencies.
    • Provides input into the selection of new Preop/PACU employees.
    • Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients/others regardless or age or ethnic background.
    • Initiates safe practices and is knowledgeable about current center policies and procedures. Specific procedures and practices related to pain management assessment and identification, abuse and neglect, sentinel events and response, variance reporting, response to sentinel event alerts, participation in root cause analysis and other key policies and procedures is required.
    • Preforms time out Audits in Pre-op/PACU, ORs and Procedure room.
    • Backfill staffing as needed.
    • Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participate in emergency preparedness drills.
    • Follows all equipment safety guidelines and is personally responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment.
    • Ensures that Standard Universal Precautions and the principles of aseptic and sterile technique are used appropriately.
    • Implements safe practices and provides knowledgeable guidance and evaluation of the environment of care management including life safety (fire prevention), security, hazardous materials and waste management, emergency preparedness, infection control, and the safe use of medical equipment and utilities.
    • Provides assessment of physiologic, mental, physiologic, and psychosocial health status of the child, adolescent, adults and geriatric patients.
    • Participates in patient/family discharge teaching for children, adults and geriatric patients.

Education and/or Experience: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Bachelor's degree from four year college or university is desired); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Within the first 90 days of employment and annual thereafter, must complete EDGE training and be able to recite program objectives, key requirement, process steps and goals as outline below.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, physicians, patients and the general public.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Nursing license and certificate from the State of Georgia and current CPR and ACLS certification.

Comment: Decision-making is limited to the accountabilities of the position; however, these decisions have significant impact on patients, physicians, staff and the overall success of the surgery center.
