USNC is Hiring a Quality Assurance Engineer Near Oak Ridge, TN

JOB TITLE: Quality Assurance Engineer

DIVISION: Nuclear

LOCATION OF WORK & TRAVEL: Oak Ridge, TN, with minimal travel

DESCRIPTION:

The Quality Engineer (Nuclear Division) is responsible for supporting quality assurance oversight of USNC’s production of Fully Ceramic Microencapsulated (FCM®) fuel and additive manufacturing processes. Implementing and ensuring supplier compliance with programs and processes (e.g., supplier qualification and oversight, commercial grade dedication etc.)This position will reside at either USNC’s facility in Oak Ridge, TN.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform surveillance of manufacturing activities related to the production of Fully Ceramic Microencapsulated (FCM®) fuel.
  • Support USNC supplier qualification, supplier oversight, and procurement of quality related items and services in accordance with quality standards.
  • Ensures collaboration with others, including the team members, to ensure quality efforts are focused and completed in a timely manner.
  • Monitors the implementation of corrective actions to ensure the effectiveness of implementation.
  • Provides input into the development of standardized key performance indicators.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience with 2 years in the nuclear field; or in lieu of a degree, 7 years of relevant work experience with 2 years in the nuclear field. Applicable Navy nuclear experience is acceptable. Other nuclear, quality, and engineering background will be considered.
  • Technical knowledge and experience in the application of engineering, procurement and manufacturing principles and processes, and regulatory commitments.
  • Knowledge of the application of Quality Management Systems.
  • Quality Assurance: Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards, and guidelines (10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, NQA-1, CSA N299.1preferred)•Demonstrated ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of a PC computer, Microsoft software and database administration.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted, work at elevated heights, work in manufacturing environments (heat, cold, rain), work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise.

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:

  • Previous certification as a Lead Quality Auditor
  • Trained in Causal Analysis techniques
  • Experience working in radiological areas, appropriate P.P.E. and applicable HS&E protocols
