Description

EXPECTATION OF EMPLOYEE:

This position must be willing to travel to support our Little Rock, AR., Shreveport, LA., and Millbrook, AL locations.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Manages and administers all identified departmental functions for Corporate ESH Director including establishing goals/objectives and directing Division ESH activities. May provide support for multiple Subsidiaries and report directly to the Corporate ESH Director for accountability, and Operations General Manager for support assignments ESH management within the Division.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • High level of knowledge, understanding and enforce all required Health, Environmental, Safety, and Regulatory laws, rules and regulations as well as thorough knowledge of Company and applicable Client Safety Policies.
  • Demonstrate exceptional management and ESH leadership skills.
  • Demonstrate Trustworthiness & Reliability (24/7).
  • Self-starter and self-motivating.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Develop and maintain strong ESH technical skills.
  • Interact professionally with multiple levels of Company & Client personnel.
  • Work under various levels of pressure situations/deadlines with direct support from the Division Operations/Corporate ESH Managers and/or Corporate ESH Director.
  • Professionally respond to all field questions from either line management or customers, in regard to developing HASAP and supporting project plans.
  • Manage Regulatory Inspections from OSHA, EPA, MSHA, or local agencies to control inspections and resolve issues related to regulatory compliance, including injuries, employee complaints, customer complaints, etc. with direct support from the Operations/Corporate ESH Managers and/or Corporate ESH Director.
  • Supervise and Mentor ESH Specialists in the Group for career development, support during outages, training and/or other field activities as necessary.
  • Conduct annual appraisals on all direct reports within the Group to ensure proper regular communication of job performance, expectations and current goals and objectives of the Company and the individual.
  • Support Corporate ESH Director in annual review and revision of Corporate ESH Policies, Procedures and Programs.
  • Support roll-out or all Corporate ESH initiatives to include field implementation and documentation and filing of training.
  • Direct and immediate involvement in any employee injury treatment, accident investigations, oversight and management with immediate notification to Corporate ESH Director, and Claims Manager.
  • Perform job site safety observations/ SHARP audits
  • Conduct weekly/ bi-monthly/ monthly safety meetings
  • Ensure the timely completion and reporting of quarterly hose testing to the region and corporate safety offices.
  • Works plant turnaround and shutdown schedules as required by branch management.
  • Participates in all assigned plant contractor safety meetings , audits and JHRA
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours during times of increased work activity
  • Must be willing to take calls after hours in case of emergency or immediate customer need.
  • Consults with account managers and field supervisors on an as needed basis to review job procedures for safe work practices

Qualifications


ADMINISTRATIVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four year degree in related subject or six years Supervisory experience in the ESH related field.
  • Able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
  • Thoroughly understands corporate project management practices, processes, standards and their impact on project activities.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Able to use reason and logic, ability to plan, direct and control an entire activity.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills; ability to present/communicate effectively and professionally to all levels of management.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power-Point as well as the ability to learn other customized software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Able to work well independently, self-directed, internally motivated.
  • Polished, professional presentation.
  • Well-developed team skills, unquestioned integrity.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical Certifications such as SHEP, CSHO, COSS, or equivalent, etc.
  • Capable of professionally delivering various types of training presentations for:
  • Company New Hire Orientations
  • Customer site specific requests
  • All ESH Policies i.e. IIPP, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Scaffolding, etc.
  • CPR/FA
  • OSHA 10 Hour Course
  • OSHA 30 Hour Course
  • All Company Safety Conference Topics
  • Conduct Company Field Group Meetings.
  • ESH Program topics for Managers, Supervisors, and Field Employees.
  • Teach additional technical levels of training as required.
  • Knowledgeable in personal protective equipment requirements, including the following, but not limited to: Hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, safety harness, leather gloves, chemical resistant gloves, respirator, ear plugs and goggles.
  • Knowledgeable of key safety programs to include: Fall Protection, Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, Scaffolding, Abrasive Blasting, Lead Abatement, Spray Applications, Aerial Lifts, and HazCom.
