DutiesAs an IT Cybersecurity Specialist within the National Mineral Information Center, some of your specific duties include: - Safeguarding systems, networks, and data by developing and maintaining security programs, policies, and procedures to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability. This includes tasks like planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of security tools.
- Developing, implementing, and assessing security programs to identify and mitigate system vulnerabilities, including intrusion detection and access authentication. Coordinating security measures across platforms, establishing vulnerability reporting criteria, enforcing backup procedures, and ensuring legal controls to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, loss, disclosure, and blocking of information.
- Creating test plans and cases based on system requirements, conducting system integration testing, and documenting the results. Following up on failed test cases and assisting the IT team with user acceptance and regression testing after resolving defects in applications.
- Testing web-based relational databases (such as SQL Server) and data warehouse applications, as well as Tableau dashboards. Maintaining and testing existing IT applications.

One year of appropriate specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service that demonstrates experience with Software application testing and conducting IT security testing and security Assessments for IT systems. Prepare test plans and conduct system integration testing and document testing results. Implementing the security controls and managing and maintaining system life cycle documentation. Experience with web-based applications and data warehouse application testing is required. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (or equivalent) relational databases, JavaScript, Tableau dashboards, and TortoiseSVN is preferred.
