Responsibilities

Plans, organizes, and oversees the nurse practitioners' general operations and functions; creates, collaborates, and implements a manual for nurse practitioner policies, procedures, and business practices; evaluates goals, objectives, priorities, and performance improvement activities for nurse practitioner team; provides direct supervision with immediate feedback of new and current nurse practitioners, which includes extensive chart review and constructive feedback to improve quality of patient care provided by all nurse practitioners; onboards new nurse practitioners; assigns and schedules nurse practitioner staff; reviews and approves paid time off and holiday requests for nurse practitioners; reviews and selects nurse practitioner candidates for employment; solicits and markets for nurse practitioner positions in the practice; schedules and performs nurse practitioner candidate interviews; manages personal office practice and duties; reviews and enforces departmental and clinical policies, procedures, and protocols; attends routine and special staff and faculty meetings; plans and oversees mid-level staff meetings; plans, schedules, and oversees mid-level pharmaceutical education and meetings; plans and oversees routine mid-level education and CMEs; plans and schedules external educational learning opportunities for team; serves as the clinical liaison for patients and employees regarding verbal and written grievances; performs disciplinary review of all mid-level patient complaints/concerns, RL6s; teaches, instructs and remediates mid-level nurse practitioner team; maintains a commitment to a SANE role with the main campus and routine teaching of SANE classes to student learners; participates as a SANE team member at USACW; facilitates physician's assistant and nurse practitioner students for clinical rotations; performs periodic review and assessment of mid-level progress (new hires and current staff); analyzes and reviews mid-level financial reports; develops individualized performance improvement goals for team members based off clinical performance reviews end assessments; collaborates to create and manage "walk-in" patients from the screening room to all other clinics; provides oversight of the performance of Maternal Fetal Medicine nurse practitioner; attends regularly scheduled meetings with the OBGYN chair and director of operations for discussion/implementation of mid-level quality and performance measures; performs routine and periodic quality control reviews of nurse practitioner charting and clinical practices and procedures to ensure quality; reviews mid-level adherence to departmental policies and procedures; creates new departmental guidelines for mid-level management of antepartum and well-woman patients to ensure quality and continuity of care; stocks medications and supplies; trains mid-level providers for placement of intrauterine and subdermal contraceptive devices; plans and oversees screening room mid-level coverage to assist the OBGYN team in scheduling gaps; oversees and manages erroneous patient scheduling within the mid-level team; provides timely feedback to patient concerns/needs within the patient portal; triages phone calls to practice; provides “walk-in" patient counseling/management of acute ultrasound and physical examination findings;regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama, one year of experience as a nurse practitioner in area of clinical focus, completion of an approved nurse practitioner training program, current Alabama Nurse Practitioner and RN license or current Multi-State Nurse Practitioner or RN License in accordance with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for Alabama. Ability to be credentialed for USA Hospital privileges. Note: USA Health abides by the NLC requirements and guidelines for the state of Alabama.
