Responsibilities

Maintains proper function and safety of linear accelerators, including, but not limited to, calibration, quality assurance, and special dosimetry measurements; assists engineer with beam characterization, parameter settings, and recalibration; maintains dosimetry equipment; maintains HDR (High Dose Rate) Remote Afterloader and Stereotactic Radiosurgery programs including, planning and assisting in delivery of all cases and performing quality assurance on equipment and software; performs dosimetry of specialized implants, including Vascular Brachytherapy and Cesium-137 Gynecological implants; performs advanced dosimetry processes to include equipment qualification of linear accelerators and treatment planning; participates in all radiation safety aspects of the radiation oncology department including, staying abreast of new regulatory requirements and maintaining compliance with institutional, state, and federal rules and regulations; maintains Stereotactic Radiosurgery Program to include planning and assisting in delivery of all cases and performing Quality Assurance on device and software; interprets and executes physician’s orders and performs secondary calculations on all dosimetry calculations; utilizes proper body mechanics when moving and positioning patients; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in medical physics or a directly related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama, three years of radiation oncology experience and certification with the American Board of Radiology as a Medical Physicist. A Ph.D. in medical physics or directly related field is preferred.
